Windows: “Do you want to restart your computer now?”

Automatic Updates in Windows is a good thing and I like it, but when I click “Restart Later” I do not want to be reminded in the next 5 or 10 minutes. The last time the Automatic Updates message appeared:

Updating your computer is almost complete. You must restart your computer for the updates to take effect.

Do you want to restart your computer now?

I accidentally clicked “Restart Now”, while I was busy typing an email! To make sure this does not happen again, I had to:

  1. Terminate: “wuauclt.exe” in the Task manager.
    Task Manager
  2. Unfortunately, terminating “wuauclt.exe” is not enough, but the best way to get rid of our friendly reminder is to stop the service from “Services” (Administrative Tools | Services).
    Windows-Services

Now I can go back to work without worries.
