Automatic Updates in Windows is a good thing and I like it, but when I click “Restart Later” I do not want to be reminded in the next 5 or 10 minutes. The last time the Automatic Updates message appeared:
Updating your computer is almost complete. You must restart your computer for the updates to take effect.
Do you want to restart your computer now?
I accidentally clicked “Restart Now”, while I was busy typing an email! To make sure this does not happen again, I had to:
- Terminate: “wuauclt.exe” in the Task manager.
- Unfortunately, terminating “wuauclt.exe” is not enough, but the best way to get rid of our friendly reminder is to stop the service from “Services” (Administrative Tools | Services).
Now I can go back to work without worries.
